Yesterday was All Saints Day, and I made my way to the local cemetery to visit my old friend. He passed away 20 years ago at the young age of 30 due to cancer. Every time I visit, I bring a candle in my pocket. It's a small ritual that reminds me of the preciousness of life and how fortunate I am to still be here.
As I stood there, I quietly said, "Hey, it's good to see you again." Memories came rushing back, reminding me of how much things have changed since we were last together. The difference between then and now felt strange, showing how life can be so unpredictable.
Realizing that I've lived longer than you hit me hard, making me appreciate each day's delicate beauty even more.
All Saints Day is a time to cherish every moment, be grateful for what we have, and hold onto the memories of those who have touched our lives. It's a day to reflect on how time changes things and how the people we've loved have shaped us.
In this ever-changing world, let's keep the spirit of the past alive in our present, honoring those who have walked alongside us and made us who we are today.
"Goodbye, my friend. I'll catch you next time I'm here." The memories lingered as I walked away, grateful for the chance to reminisce and pay my respects. Until we meet again, rest easy, knowing you'll always have a place in my heart.
For you know neither the day nor the hour.
Much love,
Z.
